The Greene County Veterans Service Office is a local resource for Veterans and their families. Veteran Service Officers assist Veterans and their dependents in obtaining all available benefits earned during their time of military service. County Veteran Service Officers (CVSO) are qualified to assist Veterans dependents after obtaining certification with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs through the sponsorship of Mississippi Department of Veterans Affairs. The office is entirely funded by the taxpayers of Greene County through the administration of the Board of Supervisors.

Some of the available Veteran Administration benefits include Compensation for service-connected conditions, Dependents/survivors compensation, Pensions for Veterans and Survivors, burial benefits, health care, home loans, and educational benefits.

The State of Mississippi provides benefits to specific categories of Veterans as determined the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs to include those Veterans that are classified as 100% disabled, Purple Heart Recipients and Gold Star Families. After an award from the VA, these benefits are administered through each county’s tax assessor’s office.
